The Hundred
The Hundred is a new format of cricket introduced by the England and Wales cricket board. The major aim of the format is to attract youngsters to watch the game of cricket.
As the name suggests, it a 100 ball format of the game, with some new rules. Eight famous clubs of England and Wales have their teams with both Domestic and International players in them. The tournament is played across England and Wales, with both Men's and Women's teams.
Here are all the details you must know about the new format.
Rules :
- 100 balls per innings.
- The coin toss can take place off the ground also.
- Each over will be of 5 balls instead of 6.
- A bowler can deliver either 5 balls or 10 consecutive balls.
- A bowler can deliver a maximum of 20 balls in the innings.
- Change of bowling end after 10 balls.
- The powerplay will be of 25 balls at the start of the innings.
- Two players allowed outside the 30 yard circle during the powerplay.
- Each bowling side gets a strategic time-out of up to two and a half minutes.
- Teams will be able to call time-outs, as has been the case in the IPL since 2009.
- No-balls are worth 2 runs instead of 1. Free hit remains the same.
- After a caught dismissal, the non-striker must return to their original end.
